Bronx native actress and singer Irene Cara has died. She is best known for her roles as “Coco” in the 1980 filmFameand “Sparkle Williams” in the 1976 filmSparkle.She is also known for the hit-singles “Flashdance…What a Feeling” and “Fame.” Cara was 63.

Throughout her over 50-year career, Cara appeared in eight broadway shows, nearly 20 films and nearly 10 television shows. She also released four albums.
Cara died in her home in Florida. The cause of her death is currently unknown.
